Strengthening Environmental Laws in Pakistan: A Key Step Towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals Environmental sustainability is an urgent global concern, and Pakistan is significantly impacted by various ecological challenges such as pollution, deforestation, climate change, and biodiversity loss. While the country has established a framework of environmental laws, the effectiveness of these regulations is often undermined by weak enforcement and insufficient policy measures. To effectively address these issues and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land)—it is imperative to strengthen environmental laws in Pakistan.
